Chicago Bike Nazi's

bike nazis.jpg

How do you know when your local administration has gone too far?
10 years ago last July marked 10 years since I had first seen Chicago. I came here for a 2-day event with only 1 goal in mind, to see the band LYCIA. I fell in love with Chicago, her people and all of her beauty. It was so clean, and families were rollerblading in the streets downtown and bicyclists were everywhere. I knew that scorching hot Sunday, Chicago was going to be my home. It took 3 years to make the move, but it wasn't going to be something I was going to do overnight. It would take some planning and seed planting.
So as of 98’ I was here. And the environmentally local government pleased me even more.

HUNTER S THOMPSON July 18, 1937 - February 21, 2005

I am almost too shaken up to write, or work today. I could not sleep a single wink last night. I am shaking due to insomnia/sleep depravation. I have induced so much sleep over the past week to prepare for this week and having an event every night, two on Thursday, that I think my body is in shock.

Nonetheless, I think I was being sent a message of sorts last night.

The following is from a letter I wrote back to my brother this morning after he heard about HST's passing.

Thanks for thinking enough to write to me this morning. I know you're busy.

The Best Advice I've Ever Heard

The Best Advice I've Ever Heard

heart.jpg

I just caught the KING OF THE HILL episode titled "Dang Ol' Love", the one where the Arlen stud Boomhauer falls in love. At the end of the episode Bill, the town loser is sitting on the hood of Boomhaur's car, drinking beer, and he offers our hero the following advice.

"I know how tough it is for you right now, curled up lying in your own emotional vomit. You're in hell now, Boomhauer, and the only way out is through a long dark tunnel. And you're afraid to go in because there's a train coming at you, carrying a boxcar full of heartbreak. Well, let me tell you something: All you can do is let it hit you, and then try to find your legs. I know. I've taken that hit more times than I can remember. Look at me, Boomhauer. I'm fat, and I'm old, and every day I'm just going to wake up fatter and older. Yet somehow I manage to drag this fat old bald bastard out into the alley every day. I'm out there, digging holes, falling into them, climbing out, trying again. And tomorrow I'm going to hang outside at a ladies' prison, and the first thing those lady cons are going to see after twenty years is me. Will I get one? Experience says no. Will I be out there next month? If I'm alive, you'd better believe it. You've got to get up off that cannon bed, slip into a tight T-shirt, wash off some of that cologne, and get yourself out of that tunnel and into some strange woman's bed!"

And that's how you (I) can get though it, every damn day.

Being Me: Pre and Post Porn

I never set out to start a business or corporation. When I conceived the idea of MK back in 1994 I wanted to provide a service to the demographic of people who share the common love for the entertainment that we do. That we absorb ourselves in, and separates us, from them.

They dubbed us a Goth read. Why? I guess at the time there was a lot of really good gothic industrial music on the scene. I don't think it's ever been as significant and successful as it was from 94-97.

A lot has changed since then. About music, me, and I hope MK became better. I hope. And from what I've been told it has.
